Brighton

Brighton, on the south coast of England is a seaside town with a vibrant nightlife scene particularly popular with the LBGT community. It is famous for its pier and it has been recreated here in Second Life. I had mixed feelings about this place. The pier is wonderful and other elements are really good too such as the buildings along the promenade and the shingle beach which is very true to rl Brighton. I did feel however that what could be a fantastic place seemed to have been forgotten and some less than great pieces have been added just to fill space which is a shame. That said, photographers will love the pier as it lends itself to some great shadow and reflective opportunities and Bech and I did have fun with some of the poses which are dotted around too.

Aspen Fell

Aspen Fell is a brand new sim which has been created by the man of the same name. I could describe the place to you but i think his own words put it perfectly; "I tried to touch on quite a few locations in one from Paris to the Hills of Tahoe....it's open to all and is meant for those who wish to find peace or collect thoughts...its a night setting so estate time is preset when u arrive for full effect....going for that monochromatic feel...also you can tour the location by Rowboat as well at the bottom of the steps". The night windlight of the sim is very dramatic and i tried to stay true to it with a couple of my shots but with a photo opportunity at every twist and turn i couldnt resist playing with light a little too. The sim has its own Eiffel style tower, a beach area, beautiful woodland and a snow topped mountain amongst other things. There really is a lot to see here and my post doesnt do it justice so go check it out!

Barneys Bay

Barneys Bay is a lovely seaside town on protected a Linden sim on an island off the mainland. The streets of pretty buildings around a central town square and the harbour area are really nice photography settings. Plus anywhere with an English pub is always a winner for me!

So Cal

I havent blogged anything this week partly because rl & sl have been so hectic and partly because i was geting a little bored of seeing the same places blogged over and over again so i thought i would wait until somewhere new caught my eye. Then i remembered a brand new sim i visited a couple of weeks ago but hadnt got round to taking more than one photo. So Cal sim is a commercial and residential area but it also has a lovely beach and pier, skateboard park, a club or live music venue and a gatcha yard sale where people can rent a table and sell on their unwanted gatcha items. As the name suggests it is all designed round a Southern Californian town theme and its really pretty with some great realistic details. Apart from the obvious shopping attraction this is also a great place for photography. Its still under construction at the minute but looking better every day and well worth a visit.

Alurel

Alurel is a magical residential sim based around a fantasy faerie woodland which welcomes all to its public areas such as  a labrynth, the Faerie's Garden and a ballroom. I often find Fae sims can be a little too psychadelic but this one is very pretty. I felt like i should be dressed with wings and sprinkling fairy dust...but Tinkerbell i am not :p The buildings all blend well and its a lovely place to dance with a partner, either amongst the trees, butterflies and the odd hovering fairy or deep under water surrounded by fishes. when you land here you are offered a notecard with some common courtesy rules which protect the residents privacy but it is a very welcoming place. There are some plots available at the time of my visit so if your looking for a home this could be for you.
